Grand Blue life skills

Fishing, mining, farming and cooking — the activities that fill the gaps between combat quests, each with its own tool and its own rhythm.

Updated September 8, 2026

Fishing: get the equipment first

A shop sells the fishing rod and worms — inspect the rod and bait requirements before you walk to the water, or the fishing interaction simply will not start. Fishing runs its own minigame via on-screen prompts; keep the session short and separate from an active combat objective so neither one waits on the other. Afterwards, check your catch and any Logbook progress before deciding what to keep and what to sell.

Mining: equip the right tool

Mining needs a pickaxe — attacking a resource node with your combat weapon does nothing. Find a suitable node, follow its interaction prompt, and collect. Before selling a material, read its description and your current crafting needs: a rock in your inventory may be a planned upgrade waiting to happen, not spare change.

Farming: follow the activity prompts

Farming plots sit inside the village systems. Read the tool or plot interaction and the required item before spending resources, and let the game's prompts drive growth and collection timing. The efficient pattern is to bundle a farming stop into a village lap that already includes quest hand-ins, not to route your session around it.

Cooking: read the recipe before gathering

Open the cooking interface first and note the exact ingredients for the dish you want — then gather against that list. Gathering without a recipe is how inventories fill with the wrong materials. One caution: Kitchen Helper is a quest objective, not a free-cooking session — complete it through the tracker and hand it back to the quest contact.

Fitting life skills into your route

  • Do the activity you already have the tool for — buy tools one at a time, not all four on day one.
  • Read item and interaction descriptions before spending resources; every skill gates on the right tool.
  • Check the Logbook after each session — several achievements track life-skill progress and pay out when claimed.
